What Does 11+ cm Mean?

Saffron bulbs are graded by circumference — the measurement around the bulb.

Our Jumbo bulbs measure 11 centimeters or greater around the corm, making them our largest saffron planting size.

When comparing saffron bulbs, pay attention to the size grade. 9/10 cm and Jumbo 11+ cm are different sizes of planting stock, with our 11+ cm bulbs representing our premium Jumbo offering.

Grow Your Own Saffron

Each fall, Crocus sativus produces beautiful purple flowers containing the valuable red stigmas known as saffron.

The red stigmas can be harvested by hand and carefully dried for use as saffron spice. After flowering, allow the foliage to continue growing so the plant can replenish the corm for the next growing cycle.

Over time, established saffron corms can produce daughter corms underground, allowing your saffron planting to multiply.
